// CustomClipper generated by FlutterShaper
class WaveClipper extends CustomClipper<Path> {
@override
Path getClip(Size size) {
final path = Path();
path.lineTo(0, size.height * 0.57);
path.quadraticBezierTo(
size.width * 0.5, size.height * 1.02,
size.width, size.height * 0.57
);
path.lineTo(size.width, 0);
path.close();
return path;
}
@override
bool shouldReclip(covariant CustomClipper<Path> old) => true;
}The problem
Flutter developers spent hours calculating cubic and quadratic bezier curves in code just to produce organic card headers, wave backgrounds, or bespoke UI cuts. A single miscalculated control point breaks rendering or causes unpredictable scaling on diverse screen ratios.
The approach
Built a high-performance web canvas that translates interactive mouse and touch point manipulation into mathematically precise Flutter Path instructions. The generated CustomClipper<Path> code respects widget size constraints, normalizes coordinates, and is directly copy-pasteable into any Flutter codebase.
How it is built
Flutter Web, Dart, CustomPainter, Canvas API, WebAssembly
- 01Declarative path serialization allowing backward/forward undo-redo states
- 02Normalized coordinate system (0.0 to 1.0) for resolution-independent scaling
- 03Optimized Canvas rendering with zero runtime garbage collection during drag operations
- 04Instant syntax-highlighted Dart code generator with copy and export capabilities
What it does
- Interactive control point manipulation for cubic and quadratic bezier curves
- Library of ready-to-use shape presets (waves, diagonals, tickets, stars, polygons)
- Real-time Dart CustomClipper code generator with clean formatting
- SVG path import and conversion directly to Flutter Path commands
- Responsive preview canvas supporting portrait, landscape, and custom aspect ratios
Challenges and how we solved them
Maintaining 60fps performance on complex multi-curve paths in Flutter Web canvas.
Decoupled control-handle hit-testing from full path tessellation, only redrawing dirty canvas layers during active drag gestures.
Translating arbitrary pixel dimensions into percentage-based Flutter layout coordinates.
Engineered a coordinate normalization engine that dynamically calculates Size bounds, yielding clean `size.width * x` and `size.height * y` Dart expressions.
FlutterShaper is in active production and continuously maintained.
